More news on upcoming Singstar Home space

Playstation.blog just posted a news regarding the Singstar Home Space. The space will launch on September 24th in Europe and the United States. Here’s their full post:

Greetings, Bonjour, Konnichiwa, and NuqNeh, Home-people!

As you may or may not know, we announced the upcoming SingStar rooms for PlayStation Home at gamescom in Cologne, Germany a few weeks ago. For those of you SingStar fiends who have since been blowing up my PM box on the official PlayStation Home forums asking “where are those rooms at, Locust?” I’m positively thrilled to confirm that this new game space will be launching two weeks from today on Thursday, September 24th. You can peep some exclusive sneak peek pics from this new space below.

The first thing you’ll notice when you visit this space on opening day is that dance floor reacts to the shapes you throw and that the music will change according to what style on dance the majority of avatars are partaking in. Note: This is where you thank me for not dropping the polka dance on you last update.

There’s also an interactive jukebox in the space where you and your friends can vote for your favorite tracks and the SingStar Music Quiz (which will be accessible in a future update) is there to test the knowledge of the hardest of hardcore music geeks in Home. To top it all off, there will be tons of rewards to be earned and future events galore, so you’ll want to add this space to your Favorites list right from the get-go. You’ll want to check the doors at the back of the SingStar rooms regularly. You never know what might be popping off inside.

On an unrelated, yet equally awesome note, you’ll notice today that Buzz! fully supports game launching in Home. So gather in the Buzz! space to meet other trivia buffs and launch into this hit party game. And while you’re at it, take a moment to go explore the Mall. If you look hard, you’ll find some new free items hidden therein. These free items will only be available for a limited time, so you’ll need to log-in today. Consider it a gift from us to you, the PlayStation Home community.

Coca-Cola coming to Japan Home

Summer may be over but Coca-Cola have signed a deal with sony to place vending machines around playstation home which will give out avatar items, presents and even codes to get a coke in a real vending machine in Japan.

Coca-Cola has also announced they will be launching an “Georgia break station” during this time.

Contest winner & Home update

Ok so we finished our inFAMOUS VIP-tshirt contest and the winner is … Thomass_NL! Thomas will get a mail soon with the code to download the inFAMOUS t-shirt.

On other news, Home updated this thursday with a couple of new items: glasses, a female top, a “Happy Birthday” hat, a doctor male costume and “Summer Wear” costumes for the girls… Still waiting for that 1.3 update, coming this month.

Awesom-Home interviews SCEE about Playstation Home!

We contacted SCEE Benelux to get an exclusive interview about Playstation Home and they were kindly enough to answer most of our questions. Some of the questions were not clearly answered and gave the same information about the future update we already know about … but we are pretty satisfied with most of the responses. For once, we now know that the Trophy Room is still under construction and isn’t cancelled. They also gave us more information on the success of Home and the future spaces, with a good description of the future Audi Space. Here’s the full interview:


- How many people log into Home each day / week / month approximatively?

We are very pleased with the progress that we have made with PlayStation Home. PlayStation Home has now been downloaded over 7.5m times worldwide, 3.3m times in Europe and the PAL territories. This shows that there is an on-going interest in PlayStation Home and with the constant evolution, with lots more content being added on a regular basis, means that PlayStation Home is set up for a strong long term future.
Average session duration (since launch) = 51 minutes

The PlayStation Home community is very strong and relies both on the strength of their interaction with each other and the quality of the content provided. The amount of compelling content within PlayStation Home has grown at a rapid pace, with spaces such as the Red Bull Island and EA Sport’s Village proving to be strong reasons for revisiting PlayStation Home. It is this type of quality content that we will continue to bring into PlayStation Home, as has been shown with the announcement of a SingStar space and Audi space, both entering PlayStation Home in 2009.

- Of the frequent Home visitors what is the percentage of people spending money in Home?

Total item downloads (free + billable) = 3 million dowloads

- Wich Home space is the most popular?

There are constant updates taking place, however in September there are a number of improvements and new features being added. There will be a variety of new items and features that will make the PlayStation Home experience even more interactive and entertaining. There will be the ability to roll dice, flip coins, and throw balls, anytime, anywhere. You will be able to carry a camera with you, try the remote control hovercraft, or the shrinking potion. The pool game in the PlayStation Home arcade has been improved, to make it more realistic and involving, and more dance moves, animations and ways of customising your character have been introduced – for instance you can now see a full 3-D preview of new virtual clothing in the Shopping Mall before you download.
We have been working very hard to bring more and more content to PlayStation Home. Over the last three months, there has been a great deal of new content added, including the InFamous space and the Buzz Space. We will continue to bring this high quality, interactive content to PlayStation Home and from not only 1st Party developers, but also from 3rd Party developers and brands

- Is the menu interface ( stacks) going to change in future updates or are you keeping this design?

There are constant updates taking place … we cannot say when or what but it will be updated

- Of all people that have a PSN account,, what is the percentage of people that use Home frequently?

PlayStation Home has now been downloaded over 7.5m times worldwide, 3.3m times in Europe and the PAL territories.

- How many ‘clubs’ has been created in PS Home? ( I think they didn’t get that question…)

The SingStar space is an interactive nightclub, where people can dance to a wide variety of music, provided by the juke box, relax with friends or play the SingStar quiz. It brings to life the essence of the SingStar brand, which is great fun spent with friends.
The Audi space is built around a huge central tower that takes the user on a journey from the hectic, compact, coloured and loud downtown, up above the clouds into a purer more serene vantage where the sought after Audi apartments reside. The journey will be accompanied by sound and music designed specifically for PlayStation Home. The space will also include a futuristic multi-player game.
We have been working very hard to bring more and more content to PlayStation Home. Over the last three months, there has been a great deal of new content added, including the InFamous space and the Buzz Space. We will continue to bring this high quality, interactive content to PlayStation Home and from not only 1st Party developers, but also from 3rd Party developers and brands

- When is the open beta ending?

PlayStation Home is an ever evolving world, which we will continue to improve and grow. The key to PlayStation Home’s success is the interaction of the community and the strength of the content. We will continue to bring new and interactive content to PlayStation Home, meaning that it will never be a finished product, but will be constantly changing world.

Playstation Home fans prepare your wallets!

This thursday, a new Playstation Home update will add more than 100 new pieces of content to Home.

First, there will be a new personal space for Killzone 2 fans: the Killzone 2 Visari throne room based on the last level of Killzone 2. Check it out in this vid along with some of the items available.

If you don’t like Killzone, don’t worry, there’s a Post-apocalyptic apartement on the menu as well, along with animated t-shirts and other stuff: Check it out here:

On other news, the European Playstation Home will change his Events space: Fat princess is leaving the Space for a new Buzz mini-game, the Buzz! Tomato Challenge.
